NHS priorities
As you have probably heard in the national and local media, the National Health Service is operating in a particularly challenging financial climate.
Since the new coalition government introduced their White Paper on health reform (Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS), the Department of Health and senior managers across the country have been looking for new ways to deliver the best health care services for less money. While the government has committed to increasing NHS spending, the population is getting older, cost of medicines is rising and new treatments are being developed. This means that the NHS will have less money to spend in the future. Money saved now will be re-invested into improving frontline services.
The local NHS will need to make some difficult prioritisation choices over the coming months and years, and this is your opportunity to play a part.
Your local NHS has £1,600 to spend on health care per person each year. From this we need to pay for appointments with doctors, opticians, dentists, treatments, operations, medicines, equipment, manage our buildings and vehicles and employ our staff.
Please take a moment to complete the questionnaire.
The survey closes on the 31st October 2010.
