Get involved

NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland is keen to involve local patients and the public as much as possible in our work. We also want to work closely with partner organisations, including local councils and the voluntary sector.

These documents summarise how we involved the public:

Orthodontics services

Continuing health care - settings of care

Pharmacy services out of town - have we got it right on rural parishes?

NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland has completed its determination of controlled localities. Following a robust consultation process, the final determination was approved by the Trust Board at its meeting on 7 July 2011.

See the attached link to the map illustrating which areas are rural and those that are non-rural.

We regularly consult with local patients and the public about our plans. Previous and any current consultations are listed on our consultation pages.

LLR Customer Services Team (PALS)

If you have any comments, concerns, complaints or enquiries regarding primary care, commissioned services, prison complaints, out of hours and unplanned care. Please contact the LLR Customer Services Team who can provide help, advice and support to patients and carers.

Membership Scheme (BeHealthy BeHeard)

We have developed and are developing a number of mechanisms to help us do this.  First and foremost is our free membership scheme. Become a member and you will have regular opportunities to let us know what you think about our plans for our services.

Reader Panel

Why not volunteer to read new patient information leaflets and documents? We have developed a reader panel for people who like to read and test our publications such as leaflets, to help us make sure they are easy to understand.

So far we have over 216 reader panel members that have helped our materials be accessible as possible to all sections within the community.

We ask all members of the panel to sign a confidentiality form. If you would like to join this panel, please complete the application form and send it to the address listed on the form.

Patient Participation Groups (PPGs)

Patient Participation Groups are volunteers who meet regularly to to decide ways and means of making a positive contribution to the services and facilities offered by the surgery to patients.

Local Involvement Networks (LINks)

Local Involvement Networks (LINKs) have been set up to involve local people influencing or changing the way health and social care services are delivered.

Overview and Scrutiny Committess (OSC)

Overview and Scrutiny Committees have a statutory role to review and scrutinise the local NHS, and are made up of locally elected County Councillors in Leicestershire and Rutland.

Organ donation

Would you accept an organ if you needed one? Nearly everyone would. But only 27% of us have joined the organ donor register.

More than 10,000 people in the UK currently need a transplant. Of these, 1000 - 3 a day - will die waiting as there are not enough organs available.  Find out more on the NHS Organ donation website.

Comments and feedback

We genuinely care what you think about your local health services, so let us know. If we are doing something well, then please tell us. If you think there is something we could improve on then please let us know so we can make a start.
