What are 'Vital Signs'?
'Vital Signs' are a collection of national performance indicators used to measure how the NHS is performing locally. They are sometimes called ‘targets' and many show you the regional and national averages for comparison.
Covering more than 60 topics, Vital Signs reports consist of tables showing how well we have performed in areas such as patient safety, eg, tackling MRSA, waiting times for treatment, child immunisations rates, deaths from heart disease and other conditions, numbers quitting smoking, child obesity levels, people using NHS dentistry, and many more, now also including our rate of CO2 emissions.
