In June 2011, Professor Eileen Munro was commissioned to undertake a review of child protection.
The review was conducted over several months resulting in the publication of 2 interim reports:
Children can only be safeguarded properly if the key agencies work effectively together. The Leicester and Leicestershire and Rutland Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) link all the agencies involved in working with children, young people and families. The boards are inter-agency fora and include local authorities, health bodies and the police. The objective of LSCBs is to coordinate and ensure the effectiveness of their member agencies in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Following the joint area review of children's services in Haringey the Care Quality Commission carryied out a swift review of arrangements for safeguarding children in NHS trusts. They looked at broad assurance around child protection systems, including governance arrangements, training and staffing, and trusts' arrangements for working in partnership with others to safeguard children.
If you're worried about any child and think they may be a victim of neglect, abuse or cruelty, contact your local social care office or the police.
You do not need to know everything about the child and what is happening. It is enough to be worried or feel that everything is not right.
