Preparing for emergencies

NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland with its PCT cluster partner, NHS Leicester City, have a major role to play in any serious incident, such as floods, bad weather or a chemical leak. Although all of us hope that incidents like these won't happen, the trust does a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure we are ready if the worst does happen.

The trust has plans in place to make sure your health services continue to function in a crisis, and to let you know what to do if you are affected. Both NHS Leicester City and NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland are part of a group called the Local Resilience Forum (LRF), which helps local councils, health and emergency services and other organisations work together to respond to a major incident.

Further information about our plans for emergencies can be found in our major incident plan, or by looking at the Local Resilience Forum website.

What to do in an emergency

If Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are affected by a major emergency, we will let you know what we need you to do as soon as we can. Log onto the LRF website or tune into BBC Radio Leicester and listen out for information and instructions.
